Before the launch of our YPHandbook, the Yuppie Handbook was released in 1984 by Marissa Piesman and Marilee Hartley where they provided step by step instructions on how the modern-day professional should be. It’s an interesting read that chronicles the daily lives of two young professionals set to conquer the business world. It is of course satire, but provides an interesting look into how young professionals of the 1980’s were viewed. Oddly enough, the stereotype of a YP varied very little from the stereotypical Millennial and Gen-Xer. Good luck finding a copy of this rare gem on your local library shelves as it’s a hard find these days – so be sure to grab onto it when you find one!
